F-A-N!

as i carry on working & understanding the nature of autism, i realised that there are quite a no. of autistic children who have obssesive behaviours with fans. they just like to look at the fans & their blades spinning around and around.

so yesterday, i helped to relief one of my colleagues and took her two boys together with the other kids in their class with evelyn & eunice. si xue is one of the two who just have this thing for fans. well, a no. of incidences happened which really, made me laugh-out-loud literally most of the time.



#01:

teacher evelyn: can we say hello to our friends?

si xue: can we say hello to the fan?

teacher evelyn: NO, si xue. let's say hello to friends.

si xue: *frowns* no teacher evelyn, we say hello to the fan.

teacher evelyn: SI XUE, we wave to our friends

si xue: we wave to the fan *looks up & waves*

teacher evelyn: ?!



#02:

teacher evelyn: i think our CD player is spoilt. let teacher evelyn go over to the next class and borrow theirs!
alex & joseph: okay teacher evelyn!

teacher evelyn: good children are children who know how to wait for teacher evelyn to come back

alex & joseph: i will wait! *in unison*


si xue: teacher evelyn, borrow fan?
teacher evelyn: NO, teacher evelyn borrow CD player!

si xue: teacher evelyn borrow fan?

joseph: no! teacher evelyn borrow CD player!

si xue: teacher evelyn borrow fan?

teacher eunice: *exasperated* NO, stop. NO FAN. teacher evelyn borrow CD player!

si xue: teacher evelyn borrow CD player & fan?

all of us: TAN SI XUE!


#03:
teacher evelyn: ok children, it is time to go to the playground! *begins switching off the lights & fans
so the rest of the kids began getting ready to leave the class except for si xue who seemed like he wasn't getting ready.
teacher evelyn: si xue, bring your bag & we will go to the playground.
si xue: *ignores & carries on looking at the fans*

teacher evelyn: si xue, bring your bag & we will go to the playground!
si xue: *ignores & carries on with his fan-viewing*
teacher evelyn: SI XUE! i will count to 3. at the count of 3, you will take your bag & go to the playground!

si xue: at the count of 3, can we bring the fan to the playground?
all of us: *faints*
