i went back to work to relief a colleague who was on leave for 2 days. it was fun, doing various activities and bring them out to the wet market & supermarket to do some grocery shopping. besides, it was another breather to take a different age group. except that my 5 year olds were pretty upset as to why their ms xuan is back but yet not taking their class. heh.

if there's one thing i could take back from the 2 days of work, it was the kids' eagerness to win my favour. it amazes me to see how hard they try just to see that smile on your face, to hear you say "good job" or "well done", or just that little nod of approval from you. then they walk away to do other things with a great sense of achievement and full of pride because they know that you love them.

it drew me back to just basic human relationships. there are times when we try to do every little thing that we can just to win the approval or the attention of others. yet there are times when we become oblivious & insensitive to others that we no longer want to try anymore.

actually i've come to realise that it is not so much about the actions that we take, even though people always say that actions speak a thousand words. sometimes you just need the want to do and the strength to carry out the want so that you can grow in loving others. in this case, i mean people whom you don't really want to love.

i can see that this is an area that i need to grow in. to learn how to love certain people even though i feel like it'll take a lifelong journey for me to eventually, love them wholeheartedly. well, its not easy but i'll try. yet sometimes i just can't help but wished that if things were as simple as the way my kids think.
