"WE WILL ALL DIE TOGETHER!"

i was giving my kids a brief understanding of the current situation about the supply of rice issue that has been happening around lately. true enough, the centre has been affected too. because of my boss' strong belief in good nutrition for children, we serve brown rice as a staple.

but just last week, our good old supplier gave a huge shock of announcing that he can't supply anymore due to some stock-taking problems and a simple economic issue of supply-can't-meet-demand. hence we've resorted to finding other alternatives like gettng rice from supermarkets. however, things haven't been going in our favour and the auntie who do the cooking has resorted to using white rice already.

so we were having a little discussion in my class about, "WHAT IF WE HAVE NO MORE RICE?".

jie en: it is ok, we can eat noodles! i love noodles!
carmen: i prefer to eat macaroni, we can always ask auntie to cook macaroni!
nathan: yayy! no more rice! (he doesn't like to eat rice, he is ALWAYS the last when we have rice for lunch)

me: but in order to make macaroni and noodles, people will need flour. right now, there is also a shortage of flour and it is becoming more expensive too! we will not have cakes, bread or even biscuits! ( heh. being a little extreme i know)

lukas: oh if like that then we will have nothing to eat already. or maybe we can just eat vegetables!
vera: EEEWW. only vegetables? i don't want that to happen! how about chocolates & sweets?
lukas: but you don't have anymore food already, even the animals also can't find food and they will all die. so we also don't have meat or fish to eat. we can only can grow vegetables. what to do?!

james: oh no that is very bad. then i think all of us will die because we have no more food to eat. then everybody will be very sad.

*pauses for a second*

james: OH but if we all have no food, all of us will die. so nobody will feel sad because we will all die together!
me: *faints*
