DONG DONG DONG QIANG!

reunion dinner at my paternal grandma' place seemed more like a reunion dinner compared to the past years. because we had about 30 people turning up, we sometimes have no choice but to split all of us into 3 dinner tables. which results us in only having "reunion dinner" with the people at the same table. but this year, my uncle miraculously found space to place all the tables side by side. hence, we did not just "reunion" with the people at the same table, but also across the tables. since its the eve of cny, only the sons & their families turn up.

for your information, my paternal grandma has 6 sons & 4 daughters, 20 grandchildren (not including 4 grandchildren-in-law and 2 going-to-be) and a great grandson! so if everyone turns up at tomorrow's dinner at east coast, we'll have about 40 people. or maybe even more than that, if some of my single cousins decide to bring their girlfriends/boyfriends along.

anyways it was a busy busy day today with tons of visitings & shaking of hands. phew. although i only get to see some extended relatives once a year, it still feels like home. because they say things like, "do you remember when you were young, you did ...". oh boy. really paiseh la. when all those uncles & aunties who are my mum's cousins, remember all those silly & stupid things that i used to do when i was 2-4 years old. although i don't really remember but i often hear my mum and grandma mentioned before. heh.

i was at my eldest granduncle's place this afternoon when a picture mounted on the wall caught my attention. my oh my. this was like taken millions of years ago when i was like err, maybe 6 years old? okayys okayys. too kua zhang. maybe not millions of years.

i took parts of the framed up picture cos it was too big for a close view. find me? :)

come to think of it, my extended family is really huge. especially my maternal side, because my grandfather has many brothers & sisters. and his many brothers & sisters have many children, whom are my mummy's cousins and they all grew up together in a huge huge kampong area in punggol where my great-grandfather used to have a coconut plantation! i grew up with my grandparents, i spent the first 4 years of my life in that coconut plantation until the government decided to take back the land. which is why all my granduncles, grandaunts and all my mum's cousin are pretty much familar with me.

well i could vaguely remember some parts of my childhood days at the coconut plantation, not a lot of details though. somehow i can't help but to wish that i could just catch a glimpse of those few years there. it must have been pretty carefree :)

anyways, i attempted to take a pic of my youngest cousin. but this two year old little rascal just couldn't keep still. so this was the best i could get.

but his tee shirt caught my eye and i really liked what i saw :)
