BLACKOUT AFTERMATH

taking a different bunch of kids means that i don't get my usual dose of innocent yet hilarious musings of the little 3 year olds anymore. but this also means that the musings which i hear about are of a different kind. well, not as funny which i used to laugh-out-loud about. but nevertheless, my 5 year olds' musings are still somewhat able to bring you little amusements here and there.

we had a mini blackout on wed morning for about 30mins. there was a power failure and the whole centre went into total darkness because we were located in an office building, which can be really dark when doors are closed and we have no source of light. so all the teachers searched for torchlights and did some random & impromptu stuff which we tried to squeeze our creative minds for. but the children enjoyed themselves with the singing of songs with torchlights in the dark, shadow play and story telling too!

i made up a random story using the puppets of the little red riding hood, including the major characters like little red riding hood, hunter, grandma and of cos, the BIG BAD WOLF. well, i supposed i made the big bad wolf sounded really scary and ferocious in my random story. and its scaryness was amplified many times in the midst of the darkness in my class. but it was lots of excitement in the different kind of learning environment!

when one of my kids, rian (pronounced as ryan) came to school yesterday morning. his grandma told me that he didn't sleep well last night, probably only a few hours and he got up super early that morning. keeping that in mind, i managed to spend about 5 mins talking to him personally during free play time.

me: rian, i heard from ah ma that you didn't sleep well las night. is that so?
rian: yes, i didn't sleep well.
me: oh why did you not sleep well?
rian: because i had a nightmare!
me: *laughs* what did you dream about?
rian: the big bad wolf!

me: *laughs harder* what did the big bad wolf do?

rian: the big bad wolf was creeping upstairs to my bedroom, then i saw his shadow really really big! then he tiptoed up the stairs to look for me. *while explaining, he did the exact same actions which he dreamt about the wolf creeping and tiptoe-ing up the stairs sneakily*
me: LOL. oh you can even remember how the big bad wolf go up to look for you.
rian: YES! it was very scary, then he open my bedroom door and i jumped up from my bed!
me: HAHA. oh dear you must have been really terrified. what else did he do?
rian: then he walked closer and closer and closer and closer to me. and i tried to move back but cannot cos i was stuck in my bed!

me: HAHAHA. then after that?
rian: THEN THE BIG BAD WOLF JUMPED ON AND EAT ME UP!

me: WAH. so what happened after he ate you up? you went into his stomach?
rian: no. *pouted*
me: no?
rian: i woke up crying. but i wished i didn't. then i can try to do funny things in his stomach and make him have a really big tummyache!
me: LOL.
