conversation #01:
gordon's dad pulled him out of the gym room while he was playing because he refused to go to the toilet before he leaves school.
gordon: WAIT. i don't want to go toilet. play first later go home then go toilet.
dad: NO, go to the toilet now then we will leave already.
gordon: I DON'T WANT! *sat on the bench outside the toilet and pouted*
dad: GO NOW!
gordon: I very tired you know. i need to rest first.
dad: tired then still go and play in the gym room? go toilet now and we will go home!
gordon: i rest first, can you wait!
me:?!
conversation #02:
(this was related to me by gordon's mum about a time when she went away on business trip and his dad had to take care of him. it was night time and just before gordon's dad put him to bed.)
gordon: where's my milk?
dad: what milk?
gordon: i always have my milk then i go and sleep!
dad: but you didn't say you wanted milk!
gordon: i never tell you to make milk then you don't make milk is it!
me: *faints*
goodness knows what all these kids have been listening and learning all these from!
my thought for the week:
i read a book to my class, entitled "Tell me what we did today" by Rick Kupchella. this is an age-appropriate book for my 4-5 year olds.
but i was very much touched by the book because it showed a father putting his beloved daughter on his lap talking about everything that the girl did for the whole day. the father was so interested in hearing from the daughter but the girl just mentioned a few brief incidences but nothing about the activities where the dad was with her or had help her in.
the girl in this story couldn't recall a lot about what she did for the whole day, neither did she remember many of the things which her dad helped her in numerous quiet ways. but i was touched because i could draw parallel with the character.
in many ways, i find myself very much like her. go through the entire day with God by my side, guiding and supporting me. however i do not really recall a lot because of getting caught up with other supposedly higher priorities. neither do i remember giving God a chance to say, "Tell me what we did today".
i'm reminded once again that communication with God is a two-way thing. And that even though i know that God knows each and every thing that i do, each and every thought that i have, He still wants to hear from me personally.
Do you too, need to give God time and opportunities to say, "Tell me what we did today?"
