IS THE SKY BRIGHT OR DARK?

sometimes i don't understand what my kids are talking about. their little chit chats can sometimes be really random. and to remain in the same topic in pockets of time within 30mins of free play is really incredible.

gordon: i am going home tonight!

me: *puzzled* of cos you will be going home tonight, you can't stay overnight in school anyway.

gordon: no, because sometimes i go home in the afternoon what!

me: huh? but you usually go home in the evening, when the sky is turning dark right?

gordon: *frowns* no la, sometimes the sky is bright, sometimes the sky is dark.

me: erm, i don't quite understand you. but, okayys.

a few mins later..

audrey: gordon is going home already!

me: where? i don't see his mummy or daddy.

gordon: no la, audrey. not yet, not yet.

audrey: yes yes, you are going home already. your daddy and mummy going to come already.

me: how do you know that, audrey?

audrey: because.. because.. because i think so?

me: haha, that was a good guess. but gordon will still have to wait till his parents arrive to pick him up.

a few mins later, gordon came up to me.

gordon: i don't know if my daddy and mummy are coming to pick me up. how?

me: why not? they will come and fetch you home.

gordon: no, i don't know whether they will come.

me: they will. i promise you that if they don't come, i will call them okayys?

gordon: okayys!

another min later, he came to me again.

gordon: but i cannot see the sky!

me: why do you need to see the sky when you're indoors?
gordon: because i won't know whether the sky is bright or dark when mummy comes!

me: haha, maybe you can ask her that when she comes.

gordon: okayys!

then again, gordon came up to me after another min or so.

gordon: you know, i like to go shopping with mummy because i get new clothes!
me: oh, ms xuan likes shopping too. can you bring me along the next time you go?
gordon: can can! i ask daddy to drive then we can go together!
me: haha, maybe you should ask your mummy first.
gordon: OH! but when you go shopping, you must hold my hand.
me: why?
gordon: because i have to hold mummy's hand so that i will not get lost. then if you hold my hand, you will not get lost too!
me: LOL. thats alright, ms xuan can walk by myself and not get lost. i will just follow you.
gordon: OH, but you must go shopping when the sky is bright. because all the shops will close if the sky is dark you know!
me: *faints*

after a little while longer..

gordon: i am going to see mickey mouse!
me: where? mummy is bringing you?
gordon: YES! daddy and mummy bringing me!
me: so where and when are you going to see mickey mouse?
gordon: i am going to hongkong disneyland tomorrow!
me: tomorrow? really?!

anyways, i checked with gordon's mum when she picked him up. they are REALLY going to hongkong disneyland tomorrow. so he will only be back next wednesday!

my end-of-the-day conclusion:

i have a boy who is more long-winded than i am!
