A QUEST IN REALITY

i used to squeeze my thoughts to imagine how God look like.
2 eyes, 2 ears, 1 nose, 1 mouth? 1 body, 2 arms and 2 legs? yes, human because Jesus came down on earth as a man. but how do you figure out how God look like when He can hold the heaven and earth in His hands? when He can listen and watch so many people at a split second? when His Holy Spirit can be by your side all the time? how can He do so many things at a time?

after these thoughts and the pursuit of the image of God have been pending at the back of my mind after some years of knowing God, i stopped searching. or rather, i was prompted with an answer.

i realised that there are things which cannot be mentally comprehended. our human minds are finite, prohibited from grasping perpetual or something beyond what we have seen/experience. it is just like the universe. where is the external boundary? is there a wall? what is it made of? so what is beyond the wall? where is the end?

the very fact that Scripture declares the Lord is "from everlasting to everlasting", there's no explanation for the beautiful mystery of understanding who God is and how He's like.

yet despite this mystery, i realised that's what part of a christian walk is about too. that is to discover the mysterious ways of God. what He has planned for our lives, our calling, the way to work out our salvations, the different roles He play in our lives and of cos, understanding who He really is.

after giving some thoughts, i know i've been living on certain assumptions of how God is like and who He is. and i've perceived things in my own way, while sometimes living in denial of certain partial obedience. i recall times when i have tried to sieve promptings from the Holy Spirit and listened to only things that i want.

there's so much to being in the world and yet trying not to be of the world. its really fighting battles sometimes. every little thing counts and it is a constant struggle to have to figure out what kind of weapon i can pull out and which strategies i should use to fight in the different battlefields but the same enemy.

sometimes i wished i would be more diligent in praying, more attentive to listening for the quiet voice of God and wiser in doing things. true, wisdom give us the knowledge and ability to make right choices at the opportune time.

really, in the midst of the never-ending effort that we need to put in to survive in this world, wisdom plays a crucial part in how we can do things God's way. and i ask, that God will also prepare me for the opportunities He will provide for me to act in wisdom.

my learning point?
the way the society perceive success may not be the way God views it.
