there was a sense of paranoia in the atmosphere when we reported for work this morning. we just kept checking and checking and checking until the kids can even try to imitate the teachers' words, such as "hands check", "mouth check", "feet check", "body check" et cetera et cetera.
but there was lots of panicky moments right from the morning till the evening. teachers from different classes were sending children one at a time in to my director's office because they found spots on them. as we weren't sure, we had to send the children to confirm if it was chicken pox to our affliated clinic, which were a few doors away from us. so teachers brought their children into the clinic one by one. i think we sent a total of about 12 children over. until the doctor decided that he couldn't stand having too many children over and all that hassle, he finally walked over to our centre to check those suspected cases instead.
so at the end of the day, we had 4 new chickenpox cases. which makes the total up to 10 as of today. and the day ended with all of us having a very stressed boss.
i see my neighbouring classes are already down-sized by half. some were affected and others are staying at home due to the spreading virus. but my kids are not down or affected by it at the moment. so i still have a very active bunch of monkeys :)
