MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL!

although children won't really fully understand what's all this mooncake and lantern thingy is about, we decided to make it a learning experience for them too.

so we put a few candies into yellow balloons and blew them up into small round ones, to make them look like little moons. each child brought in mooncakes and their own lanterns. so the whole school, about 60 kids went down for a walk with their lanterns around the building. of cos, many working adults who were going for lunch were amused by the little ones.

while we were out for a walk, my boss went to hide the little balloons all over the school. when we came back, the lights were switched off and we had to use our lanterns to find one "moon" for ourselves. it was pretty exciting! after that, we gathered and the teachers put up a little skits of the story of "Hou Yi and the 10 suns", "Chang E' going up to the moon" and the origins of mooncakes.

what's more, we had mooncakes and chinese tea for our afternoon snack. And to end the festive celebration, we guessed riddles and played charades! so happening :)
