G-Kidz!

i went back to david's club today for the first time after such a long long absence. everything's changed except for our fellow leaders.

different rooms.
different environment.
different transitions.
different kids.
different routines.
different worship sessions.
different curriculum.
different activities.

oh my. speaking about the activities. i was totally shocked and horrified when i saw what the barely three year olds had to do for their hands-on art & craft. it wasn't age-appropriate at all. err. well, i guess we'll have to feedback and improvise before more complicated stuff comes on for the little ones.

anyways, i was very amused by a little boy named Joel this morning. He is about 2 and a half and about my height when i squat down. Some background information if you do not know, children are strongly encouraged to do actions when they sing songs so that they can remember better. Besides, they learn mainly through imitation and modelling the older ones at this age.

Well, we were singing "Be bold, be strong" and the leaders were trying to encourage those reluctant ones to lift up their arms to gesture. Joel was one of the few proactive ones to follow and sing along. But guess what. Joel was so amazed by the fact that he could control the strength of his arm muscles through flexing them that he:

1. boxed my right jaw when i stood down to his level to talk to him *ouch*
2. went running around the room, happily showing nearly all the leaders that he can flex his arms
3. was experimenting the amount of force he could use by constanting punching his fists into the air during the few mins of toilet break

he was totally amusing and captivating!

there are many reasons why i look forward to serving in david's club. but today, haha. i found a new reason to add on to the list. joel :)
