i had a long day of practicum today. it left me feeling physically and mentally exhausted. i read 3 storybooks and conducted a little activity with 15 children when all i needed to do today, was to just sit in between the children during their curriculum. well i guess the kids needed some help because their main teacher was on leave today. anyways, i did have some interesting encounters while i was in their midst. that's what i really like about being with these little ones. you get to hear their conversations and dialogues. some of the things they say and the way they behave are really amusing. i'll try to see if i can recall some of them.

senario number one:
Pang En tries to recognise the alphabets that Teacher Nancy wrote on the whiteboard.

Pang En: Big b, small b, big g, small g, big f, big h... Teacher Nancy, correct or not?
Pang En: Teacher Nancy, correct or not? Correct or not, Teacher Nancy?
Teacher Nancy: -
Pang En: Teacher Nancy says it is correct! (then he sits down happily)

* apparrently, he kinda self-declared that he was correct.

sometime later, senario number two took place somewhere in a little corner. this little boy was on his own, not wanting to engage in freeplay with the other children.

Ron: I love you. No, I love you!
You love me? No, I love me!
I love you. You love you!
No, I love me!

Me: ?!

senario number three. this was a little activity of matching and fixing similar pictures together between two children.

Zhong Jun: This is here, correct?
Shira: No.
Zhong Jun: Yes, correct!
Shira: No. Yes. Ay. I think it is correct.
Zhong Jun: I sure correct one. Very correct.
Shira: I sure correct one. Very correct. Yes. Very correct!

So they happily matched that one picture together and grinned at each other. And I shall look forward to more of these in the next few practicum trips to come. How amusing.

* i wonder if i picked up my repetitive habit from always mixing around with these children. hmmmm :)
